Sea Salt Spray is great for the summer. It quickly adds texture to
otherwise flat hair. Think along the lines of wind-blown, beach volume
and texture. Generally, if you're looking for that 'I've just been to the beach' look - salt spray is great for adding body and volume to hair or creating beach
waves.
Buying sea salt spray can be expensive - stores retail sea salt
spray for $8 or more (CAD). I know there are less expensive versions in the USA or else where. A popular brand I've heard of is "Not Your Mother's". But for those who want to save the $$ and make there own, this is a quick and easy recipe
to make sea salt spray at home.
Ingredients needed:
- 1/2 tsp of scented conditioner
- 2 tbsp of ground sea salt
- 8 oz. of water (approx. 1 cup of water)
- 1/2 tsp of scented conditioner
- 2 tbsp of ground sea salt
- 8 oz. of water (approx. 1 cup of water)
I found a spray bottle at Daiso (a Japanese dollar store for $2) - you're going to need a 250mL or larger spray bottle. Personally, I'm using a 100mL spray bottle and I converted the rest accordingly.
Tips/Instructions:
- if possible, heat water - you want to mix this all in warm water.
- put water into a small saucepan and heat (not boil or simmer), you want warm water
- add sea salt 1 tbsp at a time (make sure the salt dissolves completely or it will clog the spray bottle)
- once salt has dissolved, allow to cool slightly before pouring into a spray bottle (use a funnel)
- add sea salt 1 tbsp at a time (make sure the salt dissolves completely or it will clog the spray bottle)
- once salt has dissolved, allow to cool slightly before pouring into a spray bottle (use a funnel)
- add the conditioner once you have pour the salt water in the bottle
- shake, stir and swirl until the conditioner is mixed in
- shake or swirl spray before every use
Simple and easy - that's the key. =D enjoy.
